The spiral sluice operates based on the principle of gravity separation, combined with the difference in settlement velocity of materials along different paths within the spiral chute. When materials enter the spiral sluice through the feed chute, they are propelled by water flow. As the materials flow along the spiral-shaped chute with the water, heavier particles settle to the bottom of the chute due to gravity, while lighter particles are carried to the upper part of the chute by the water flow. The rotation of the spiral chute helps move the materials along the chute wall, enabling the separation of particles of different densities into layers.
Within the spiral chute, materials of different densities are stratified and separated. At different positions of the spiral chute, the separated materials, such as concentrates (heavy minerals) and tailings (light minerals), can be collected. By reasonably allocating the discharge outlets of the chute body, materials of different grades can be effectively separated. The discharged tailings are light materials, usually containing more waste or unwanted substances.
The spiral blades and chute body are the core components of the equipment. The spiral blades installed within the chute body assist in moving the materials along the chute and facilitate the separation of materials of different densities. The materials are evenly fed into the spiral sluice through the feeding device, usually in combination with water flow, to ensure smooth entry into the separation zone. The discharge outlets are used to discharge the separated concentrates and tailings, usually located at different positions of the spiral sluice, facilitating the collection of separated materials as needed.
